Nothing beats a perfectly charred pizza, and it’s one of the ol’ reliable dishes that people seek out when arriving in a new city. So, good news then that the pizzas in Sweden are incredible.
With the summer holidays here and people travelling across the continent, we decided to round up the best of the best when it comes to pizzas in Sweden. From Stockholm to Malmö, we’ve got the best of the best.

1. Lilla Napoli – Falkenberg
A small, quirky restaurant that features a cute terrace that is a surprising yet wonderful place to eat pizza and have a glass of red wine. The key here is that the standard never dips; every single pizza is as wonderfully glorious as the last.
2. 1889 Fast Fine Pizza – Stockholm
Named after the year the first Margherita pizza was served in Naples, this is one of the most exciting and innovative pizza experiences you will ever come across.
The pizzas are wonderfully creative – think smoked deer, crispy beetroot and lingonberries – and come served with seriously good cocktails and salads that are to die for. A great place to start a night out with friends.
3. BOV – Gothenburg
BOV stands for “bread and wood” and is probably the most visited basement in Johanneberg. Feast on their fluffy wood-fired oven pizzas and carefully selected natural wines and you’ll understand why.
They also sell homebaked breads and gourmet goods in store, so you can take a little taste home with you.
4. Fratelli Örebro – Örebro
Fratelli is an Italian restaurant that places huge emphasis on using the best ingredients they can find, both local and Italian. The bases are thin and crispy; delicious.
Order the signature Fratelli pizza: mozzarella, garlic oil, truffle salami, fresh mushrooms, rocket, white truffle oil & truffle pecorino.
5. Crispy Pizza Bistro – Stockholm
Crispy Pizza Bistro is a wonderful restaurant that serves up super crispy pizzas, burgers and a great selection of craft beers. Seriously, what more could you possibly need?
Their toppings are original, fresh and sourced from only the best of ingredients. Make sure to keep room for their brilliant desserts.
6. Meno Male – Stockholm
Meno Male does super classic Neapolitan-style pizza that are every bit as good as anything you’d eat in Italy. The crusts are big and spongey and wonderfully charred in their 800 degree oven.
Their toppings are inventive but you are best keeping it simple because the dough, cheese and sauce are all simply perfect.
7. Pizzeria Adriatic – Linköping
Pizzeria Adriatic is a family business consisting of several generations, with a passion for quality food. Since 1993, they have baked pizzas that are fresh, full of flavour and downright delicious.
With each pizza on the menu here, you can choose from five different pizza bases that they bake from scratch.
8. Mums – Gothenburg
The pizza menu here is divided into two parts: one with Italian flavours and one with Swedish flavours. Italian toppings include fresh mozzarella, grilled eggplant and zucchini, while Swedish toppings include marinated beef fillet, mushrooms, garlic, bearnaise sauce.
Mums also has a great lunchtime buffet, where you can try lots of different pizzas and salads.
9. Kvarterskrogen La Pizza – Västerås
This popular bar and restaurant has nice seating outside and shows all the major sports games, so you’ll have some entertainment while you feast. As well as the usual suspects, pizza toppings here include creative choices.
Think: ham, banana and curry sauce or crab and shrimp with paprika.
10. Trattoria 21 – Gothenburg
You’ll find this traditional trattoria in the Gamlestaden neighbourhood, where Emanuele Malgioglio runs the pizza oven in the proper Neapolitan way. There’s 17 different pies to choose from on the menu.
Every Friday they have Aperitivo, where they offer different Italian snacks to nibble on when you buy something to drink at the bar.
11. 800 Grader – Stockholm
Their pizzas are classic in style but with original and unique toppings that make every visit here a treat. They use local Swedish flour to make their dough, and if you’re lucky there might be a free seat outside.
They only source the very best toppings and their cheese is as good as anything you’ll ever taste. This is one pizza in Sweden that is just as good sitting in or taking them away to go.
12. Penco – Malmö
Penco is easily one of the best Italian restaurants in Malmo, with authentic dishes and incredible ingredients at its core. So it goes without saying that it’s also one of the best places for pizzas in Sweden.
The Bresaola pizza is particularly good: it’s piled high with mozzarella, parmesan, tomato sauce, bresaola, rocket and a squeeze of lemon.
13. Bellora – Gothenburg
This Instagram friendly hotel on the main boulevard Avenyn owes their amazing pies to pizzaiolo Turi, who brought his family’s sourdough recipe to Gothenburg. The crusts are thick and fluffy and the toppings are superb.
For something different, order the pizza with crème fraîche, bleak roe, red onions, chives, brown butter and lemon.
14. KELLO’S Burger & Pizza – Trollhättan
KELLO’S is a locally owned restaurant that stands out in Trollhättan. It’s a little bit outside of the centre, but is well worth a visit. The burgers are juicy but it’s the pizza that caught our eye – thick crusts and toppings such as Pata Negra chorizo.
It’s a local favourite and you’ll see why with your very first bite of the pizza here.
15. Pizza Hatt – Stockholm
They focus on creating really good pizzas and complementing it with great craft beer menu. Two of the world’s greatest treats served in one place that will make you seriously happy.
Pizza Hatt’s super chilled atmosphere with friendly staff will mean that you’re sure to hang around for a couple of beers after your meal.
16. Magazzino – Gothenburg
The pizzas at Magazzino are in high demand, so be sure to make your reservation as early as possible. Light and fluffy dough and gourmet toppings is part its popularity, and you can order any of the pizzas gluten-free.
They let the dough rise for at least 24 hours and then bake it in a stone oven for a deep flavour.
17. Opopoppa – Malmö
Opopoppa is a funky pizzeria with live DJs every weekend and other fun events. Their tasty pizza is served by the slice or as a whole to share, and the toppings change weekly.
Expect droolworthy pizzas with white bean, charred onion, pickled fennel & parsley, or creamy burrata and roast chilli.
18. Galinas Pizza – Stockholm
You can eat in, take out or they deliver. Galinas Pizza is basically on hand for whatever carb-emergency you have. They keep the pizzas super simple and classical in style with a real focus on high end quality ingredients.
Slightly thinner than some on the list and perfectly crispy from their wood fired oven.
19. Pizzabagarna – Jönköping
Pizzabagarna shakes things up with two very different styles of pizza, so there’s something to suit all tastes. Their Pan Pizzas have a thicker base and are American-inspired, while the House Pizzas are thin and crispy and use Italian and local toppings.
Be sure to finish things off with the specialty that will always be on the menu – a Nutella pizza with strawberries.
20. La Pizza – Helsingborg
La Pizza is an award-winning pizzeria with a pure focus on making the best pies they can. Dough is hand-stretched and uses only premium ingredients, before being baked in a blazing hot oven.
The menu is extensive, and you can choose from 30 different pizzas with everything from parma ham or kebab meat to tiger prawns.
21. Restaurang VED – Lund
The rustic copper-clad wood stove is the focus point of the kitchen at VED, with their beautiful pizzas coming out with the perfect char. They work seasonally, with local raw materials and producers (preferably organic).
The pizza menu might be small – there’s just seven options – but they’re all simply delicious.
22. Giro – Stockholm
They opened in 2015 with the goal of creating one of the best Neapolitan-style pizzas in the country. Well done Giro – they’ve delivered on that goal and then some. The secret is all in their perfectly fermented dough.
A pizza and a glass of wine here is one of the great pleasures in life. A wonderful experience for one of the must-try pizzas in Sweden.
23. Bistro Bananas – Stockholm
At Bananas, Neapolitan pizza is baked in an imported wood oven from Stefano Ferrara Forni. They even import the flour directly from a small mill that specialises in Neapolitan pizza. So yes, it’s the real deal.
The base is thin while the crusts are nicely fluffy and chewy, with plenty of toppings to add on.
24. Brewers Beer Bar – Gothenburg
There’s two Brewers Beer Bars to check out in Gothenburg: one on the buzzing street Tredje Långgatan, and the other on equally trendy Magasinsgatan, Brewers specialise in sourdough pizza, including several vegan options. The Popeye is brilliant: cauliflower crème, feta cheese, Parmigiano-Reggiano, pea sprouts, spinach & garlic dressing.
Get your pizza to go, or combine it with a local craft beer.
25. Vezzo – Östersund
Make your way to the counter to self-order your pizza at this great restaurant. Vezzo has a buzzing atmosphere and fantastic Neapolitan-style pizzas with a twist when it comes to toppings.
As well as traditional Margheritas, they have specials such as mozzarella, kale, roasted almonds, smoked pork belly and pickled pumpkin. A great option for one of the tastiest pizzas in Sweden.
