While Ibiza’s rooftops won’t get any prizes for height (you won’t find any taller than nine storeys), they certainly could for their sparkling views. From a characterful, colourful rooftop terrace to one of the world’s most famous nightclubs, here are the best rooftop bars in Ibiza.
best rooftop bars in Ibiza
1. Radio Me Ibiza Rooftop Bar
Between its 360-degree views of the Med, jaw-dropping infinity pool and crowd-pleasing menus, it isn’t hard to see why Radio Me is one of the island’s most popular rooftop bars. Perched on the fifth floor of the swish Melia Hotel, the terrace is kitted out with luxurious Bali beds, lounge seats and front-row bar seating facing the ocean. The restaurant serves up a range of high-quality tapas and sophisticated seafood dishes, like salmon tartar and white fish ceviche. Over at the bar, you can sip on mojitos and bubbles to chilled-out beats and feel-good live DJ sets.
2. Montesol Rooftop at Gran Hotel Montesol
This lovely, laid-back rooftop is perched on top of the equally lovely Montesole Experimental Hotel. A haven from the hedonism down below, it offers the ideal escape from the crowds. Sip on cool glasses of rose or ask one of the friendly mixologists to whip you up one of their creative cocktail concoctions. There’s tapas on offer too, all served with sparkling views of Dalt Vila.
3. Maymanta
Feeling peckish? Maymanta offers a ‘gastronomic journey through Peru, the Amazon, the Andes and the Pacific’ all via the Meditteranean. Headed up by renowned chef Omar Malpartida, this hot new rooftop spot boasts unusual dishes ofTapeo Criollo, National Picoteo, Anticuchos, Ceviches, Tiraditos, Punto Humo (woks and grill) and other specialities. Meanwhile, the chic rooftop bar offers alchemist pisco cocktails, smoothies and fine wines by the glass.
4. Malecon at Cubanito
Offering a slice of Havana in the heart of Ibiza, Malecon occupies the fourth floor of the Cuban-inspired concept hotel, Cubanito. The decor is playful and colourful, as is the menu. Think revitalizing juices and shakes, lip-smackingly good burgers and calorific dessert bowls. There’s live Cuban music with mojitos on most nights, as well as salsa and yoga classes at the weekends. Throw in some spectacular views over the coast and bay, and it’s no wonder people find it so hard to leave.
5. The Ninth at the Hard Rock Hotel
At nine storeys high, The Ninth is one of the island’s highest rooftop bars. Unsurprisingly, it offers some of the best 360-degree views in Ibiza, overlooking the beach, city and sea. Every Friday there’s a ‘Children of the 80s’ party, while on Sundays ‘Rock in the Sky’ takes over the rooftop. The menu is as eclectic as its live music lineup, featuring everything from tapas to gourmet burgers.
6. Up Ibiza Sky Society at Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel
Perched on top of one of the island’s most famous hotels, Up Ibiza offers sweeping views of the Playa d’en Bossa coastline. The adult-only bar is one of the most glamorous and exclusive locations on the island, so it tends to attract a trendy crowd. Soak in the sunset views and sip on top-notch drinks, like the signature speciality ‘Ushuaia Red’, while the party pumps below.
7. Patchwork at Sa Punta Ibiza
This flagship rooftop terrace is bursting with personality, from its colourful lanterns to its pop art murals. The terrace is kitted out with low dining tables, heaps of cushions and comfy couches, making it the perfect place to while away a few hours as the sun goes down. Start the evening with a custom cocktail, then tuck into authentic Lebanese dishes – it’s the only place you can find them on the island. As well as panoramic sea views, visitors can enjoy a birds-eye view of the Old Town.
