One of the first things that most people can agree on is that burgers are one of the greatest foods invented, so it’s only right that we shared the 25 best in the Lone Star State. Big 7 Travel released the 50 best burgers in the USA last week; here’s where you’ll find the very best burgers in Texas…

1. The Hay Merchant – Houston
The best place to come in the city if you want to drink from a really good selection of beer and have a stunningly good burger at the same time. The Hay Merchant grinds their beef fresh every single day, and you can tell from that very first delicious mouthful.
2. Pool Burger – Austin
Order your burgers from an airstream and sit outside while drinking tiki-themed drinks on one of the nicest terraces in the city. Everything about this place oozes cool, but the burgers are the star of the show.
3. Dugg Burger – Plano
There are two important things to know about this burger joint. The first is that they put so many toppings and patty in the middle that they need to hollow out the buns. The second is that their shakes are legendary and you should never leave without ordering one!
4. Wallbanger’s – Corpus Christi
Wallbanger’s prides themselves on making every single menu item fresh on the premises. If you have a huge appetite and want a serious treat, try the burger topped with mac and cheese. Two of life’s great pleasures.
5. Good Friend Beer Garden And Burger House – Dallas
The perfect place to hit up after work or on the weekend to hang out with friends. You’ll come for the burgers which are seriously delicious, but their vast selection of craft beers and a lovely atmosphere might keep you here a little longer…
6. Burger Boy – San Antonio
Burger Boy is a proper old school drive through burger joint (you can eat in too) that has a wildly passionate local following. Their burgers are simple, delicious and you won’t hear anybody in the area say a bad word about them. A great excuse to visit Texas.
7. – Hut’s Hamburgers – Austin
Walking up to this joint and stepping inside is like taking a step back in time and we say that in the best possible way. Great burgers, super shakes, friendly attentive service and a setting that is brilliant for people watching as you eat.
8. Pino Burger – Laredo
Pino Burger has four stores in total and the popularity of their burgers with locals tells you all you need to know. It’s great value for money and there’s outdoor seating as well as some quality Mexican alternatives to burgers. Simply put, it’s a great place to eat.
9. Kincaid’s Hamburgers – Fort Worth
Whisper it, but you’ll find plenty of people saying this is the best burger in the state. It’s got a stripped back setting where all the focus is pared back to just focusing on the burgers. They’re thick, juicy and cooked to perfection every single time.
10. Border Burger Bar – El Paso
This aptly named burger joint is just about as close to the border as you’ll get while still eating a burger in America. There’s a fantastic selection of burgers and it’s all about their original topping ideas as well as some quality beers.
11. Petrol Station – Houston
This former gas station has been turned into a unique place to eat, drink, listen to live music and socialise. There’s a huge outdoor space and one of the best burgers in the state, washed down with a great selection of craft beers and the company of good friends.
12. Stanton’s City Bites – Houston
A truly unique and historic building that looks nothing like the typical burger joint on the outside. Once inside you’ll find plenty of chilled vibes and tasty treats; the perfect place to linger with friends over their truly epic burgers.
13. Knife – Dallas
Knife is a modern steak restaurant at the Dallas Highland Hotel and The Shops at Willow Bend. You probably already knew that they did some of the very best steak in the state, but when people know how to handle meat this well they can dish out quality burgers too. Absolutely drool worthy.
14. Butcher Boy’s – Nacogdoches
Now this is proper American cooking that has been in business since 1977. They have great chicken and steak dishes and their pie is to die for, but you come here for one thing and one thing only: that’s the classic burger.
15. Rodeo Goat – Fort Worth
This is an incredible burger joint with a super loyal following who have now branched out to five locations, including Houston and Dallas. Their burgers are so outrageously brilliant that you could barely imagine them in your head before seeing them. Burger heaven is putting it mildly.
16. Casino El Camino – Austin
There’s so many things to love about this 6th street joint. It has an epic juke box, the drinks are cold and plentiful, the crowd don’t take themselves too seriously and the kitchen is open until 1am. The burgers are absolutely massive btw, so bring an appetite.
17. MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes– Arlington
The beef burger is the star of the show in this small national chain but they also do great veggie and chicken burgers if you want to change things up a bit. MOOYAH is well known for some of the best shakes in the business too, so don’t forget to order one.
18. Bernie’s Burger Bus Stop – Bellaire
Bernie’s have three spots to choose from, so whichever one you end up in you are not going to regret it. Their restaurants are themed around schools but they have nothing to learn when it comes to cooking amazing burgers, the great loaded fries on the side or their craft beer selection. Perfection.
19. Willy Burger – Beaumont
Willy Burger is one for those of you who have a serious appetite and really feel like treating yourself. The retro style joint also does great shakes, dogs and even breakfast, but don’t look beyond the burger and onion rings. Divine.
20. Village Burger Bar – Dallas
They’ve five locations around the city which means you are never too far from one of their delicious stores. As well as burgers that are perfectly plump and juicy, Village Burgers Bar focuses on its great craft beer selection, making it a fun place to spend some time.
21. Captain Billy Whizzbang’s – Waco
They have self appointed themselves the “best burgers in Texas” and it’s very hard to disagree. If you are feeling super hungry you’ll try the triple patty cheeseburger below. A challenge, but a super tasty one.
22. Top Notch Hamburgers – Austin
A proper old school burger joint with none of the pomp and fuss that some bigger restaurants have. Quick service, great burgers and fries that are to die for. If you could eat a burger every single day you’d probably choose to have it here.
23. Maple & Motor – Dallas
A wildly popular Dallas burger joint that’s an institution at this stage and has some of the most loyal customers in the business. This isn’t surprising, once you’ve tasted the burgers and seen their friendly service you’ll be a fan for life.
24. Heff’s Burgers – Abilene
More proof that the best burgers don’t have to just be in the big cities. Heff’s Burgers now have nine stores since they started back in 2009. Once you’ve seen and tasted one of these bad boys it’ll be hard to go back to any other type of burger ever again.
25. Grub Burger Bar – Midland
A small chain who are growing fast, thanks to how passionate people are about their burgers. They now have 10 locations across the state. The best thing about their burgers is the perfect size for fitting into one hand and biting into perfectly. Once you taste it you’ll be hooked for life.
