Types of Airport Parking

Travelling is stressful as it is having to juggle all the logistics, getting to the airport in one piece as well as managing all the people that you're travelling with especially children! Which is why here at Enjoy, we want to take the burden of researching car parking off your chest and help make your journey a little easier. Enjoy compares all major UK airport car parks, allowing you to easily browse through different agents to pick the best option for you. On Enjoy you can book directly with the supplier at their best price or you can often book an Enjoy Choice sometimes with a special price.

Meet and Greet

A driver will meet you at the terminal as part of a "Meet and Greet" airport parking service and transport your vehicle to a safe off-site location while you are away. The driver will bring your car back to the terminal so you can pick it up when you get there. Although it is the easiest option by far, it is also the most expensive. If this is the route you want to take, you can keep an eye out for discounts to make it a little less expensive.

Valet Parking is very similar to Meet and Greet and these two services often go hand in hand at multiple UK airports. With valet parking, the comfort is taken a step further, with a chauffeur who will bring your car directly to your terminal upon your arrival. Many airports also offer a cleaning service where a staff member will have your vehicle cleaned inside and out, shortly before your arrival. Valet parking will be the most expensive, however, it is the most secure way to park your vehicle at the airport.

On-Site Parking

If you're looking for extra peace of mind regarding parking security, then this is the best service for you. On-site is exactly what it sounds like, these car parks are very close to the terminal. Simply park your vehicle in one of the short stay car parks where airport officials are directly responsible for security, then stroll to departures in just a few minutes. You'll often find that these car parks have higher pricing due to their proximity to the airport and convenience. This car park is ideal for meeting or dropping passengers as well as short trips away and business meetings.

Park and Ride

When using the park and ride service, you can park your car at a predetermined area and then ride a shuttle bus to the airport. When you get back, the shuttle bus will pick you up at the airport and drive you to your vehicle. This is frequently far from the airport, so keep that in mind when you travel.

Simply drive your vehicle to one of the long stay car parks, check in, and then jump onto one of the complimentary shuttle services that will have you at your terminal in anywhere from between 5 to 15 minutes. You get to keep your keys, and some airports also offer the service of being able to call the car park when you arrive in order for a staff member to have your car ready for you in the collection area. The complimentary buses run all throughout the day and night at majority of the UK airports so you won't need to worry about figuring out how to reach your car if you land during awkward hours. If your trip is longer than a week, then Park and Ride would be a fantastic option to benefit from the excellent value for money and security.

Airport Parking Security - What to look out for

Airport car parks have top quality security services, allowing your vehicle to stay safe and protected so you can travel with peace of mind. Here are some factors you can look out for when booking your parking to ensure you have the safest parking possible.

Number plate recognition
Most UK airports will have your vehicle registration number scanned upon entry when you arrive at the barrier. This is a great way for security to be aware of your exact entry and exit into the car park.

The majority of UK airport car parks have security cameras. Try your best to pick a parking space close to a camera.

Flood-lit Car Parks
Most robberies occur during the night when visibility is minimal, hence flood lit car parks are a fantastic method of helping airport officials keep an eye on your car.

Security Patrols
If you're still feeling unconfident even with CCTV and number plate recognition, then try to pick a car park that also performs regular security patrols. Regular checks around the entire car park are made by airport officials or sometimes even the police.

Car Finder System
If you're incredibly protective over your vehicle, then selecting a car park with a car finder system, which is where a GPS is used to track the location of your vehicle would be suitable for you.

Proximity to the Airport
Parking closer to the airport may prove to be pricier, however, the extra pennies would be providing your car with further security as well as give easier access to your vehicle upon arrival.

Check the Airport Reviews
A practical method of understanding the quality of the car park security is by analysing customer feedback. Have a browse of what others have written and use the reviews to decide whether or not you would like to go ahead.
