The dolphin-shaped Lake Skadar lies on the border of Albania and Montenegro, and is the largest lake in Southern Europe. It’s also – we reckon – one of the prettiest.
Take a boat ride through the blue waters to cool down in the hot sun during summer, and be sure to hike up high for a birdseye view of the lake.

Sveti Stefan is a charming seaside hideaway resort with lush grounds and stunning sea views. Previously a fishing village, in 1960 it was converted into the old town and is connected to the mainland by a narrow road.

7. Lovcen Mountain
Mount Lovćen is an iconic mountain in Montenegro and is known as ‘the heart of Montenegro’. Once you reach the top you will have panoramic views across the whole country, and there’s also places to have a BBQ picnic.
Be sure to stop at the Hotel Ivanov Konak on the way and grab the Njeguši sandwich, stuffed with local meats and cheese.
