2. Double Zero – Broadbeach

Double Zero focuses on traditional Neapolitan wood-fired pizza which is cooked for 90 seconds in a blisteringly hot wood-fired oven. The result? Perfectly charred pies that have doughy crusts and plenty of sauce.

3. Bread and Butter – Kirra Beach

Bread and Butter serves up stoned baked pizzas, Spanish tapas, handmade gnocchi, and pasta, but it’s that delicious pizza that draws in the crowds. Usually it’s a tough gig convincing people to go with stone baked over wood-fired, but not here.

Homemade dough and creamy fior di latte make sure it’s irresistible.

4. Francie’s – Coolangatta

Francie’s is easily one of the best Italian restaurants on the Gold Coast. You might not expect to find such a gem inside, but the wood-fired neo-Neapolitan-style pizzas are outstanding.

Funky names include Sage Against The Machine (buttery sage with pancetta) and the Fennel Countdown (pork sausage with chilli).

5. Balboa Italian – Palm Beach

This glamourous indoor/outdoor restaurant serves up some amazing traditional Italian cuisine, and their pizzas are one of the best in the Gold Coast.

6. Goccia Italian Pizzeria – Mermaid Beach

Locals of Mermaid Beach get all the luck, eh? Goccia is an exceptional Italian pizzeria that’s basically right on the beach, with fresh dough blending with the sea breeze.

Choose from 12 tomato base pies, six white or one calzone. Or, if you’re starving, get the Panara Pizza – which measures a hefty 50cm and comes with your choice of three flavours.

7. Salt Meats Cheese – Surfers Paradise

This Sydney-born restaurant has a cult following, and now has several buzzing pizza locations across the country. Trying to choose from the tempting menu can be tough, but you can count on every pizza being made with the house-made dough and cooked to a crispy perfection.
