Yorkshire's airport providing a range of holiday destinations and connections into international hubs
Leeds Bradford airport has grown exponentially over the past decades, having serviced only 1.2 million passengers in 1997, to 2.9 million in 2007 and growing further to the 4 million during the year leading up to the Covid-pandemic. It proudly publised plans to grow further to 7 million passengers a year by 2030, which would challenge some of the other larger airports around the UK.
The passenger and destination mix is one of its successes attracting both holiday makers and business customers thanks to its relative smallness, modern facilities and convenience promoting an easy journey through the terminal. From the car parks and drop off area through check-in, security, all the way to the tarmac to board the aircraft is smooth and easy.
Flag carriers such as KLM and Aer Lingus provide flights into the 2 major hubs - Amsterdam and Dublin with onward flights to hundreds of long-haul destinations across the globe including Asia, North America, Australia and Africa.
Whilst Eatern Airways has been successfully picking off domestic Flybe routes (since Flybe went into administration in 2019), and the popular low cost airlines Jet2 and Ryanair have been capitalising on LBA's growth of passenger numbers and popularity.
