Discover Santorini’s Top 7 Bars
1. Kira Thira Jazz Bar, Fira
Located in the island’s capital, Thira (or Fira), Kira is Santorini’s oldest bar. The colourful den is tucked away on a narrow street – it feels like a true hole-in-the-wall. On an island where everything is crisp, clean, and gleamingly white, visiting a dark, cave-like, old-school bar can be a breath of fresh (or not-so-fresh) air. They play jazz music throughout the day, and musicians play live music in the evenings. The friendly owner is always happy to chat about the history of the bar, along with the interesting artwork on the walls. The drinks are strong, and the sangria is a great choice – especially in the stifling Santorini heat.
2. Hassapiko Bar, Oia
If you’re visiting Oia, this is the place to be. Sometimes called Marykay’s Bar, Hassapiko is one of the only bars in Oia, there’s a steady stream of revellers hanging around with a drink in hand. Visit during the day for coffee and cake, and return at night when it’s transformed into a late-night bar with regular live DJs, dancing, and flowing drinks. It’s rustic, unpretentious, and always puts on a good night. Despite its no-nonsense vibe, Hassapiko expertly crafts excellent cocktails. Try the Volcano – mezcal, prickly pear, agave, and pink pepper.
3. Tranquilo, Perissa
By day, this colourful beach bar is a vegetarian/vegan haven. You could easily spend all day flitting between the cosy sofas and the warm sea, tucking into delicious, nutritious local food. Then, by night, it’s the ultimate beach party spot. There’s live music, a dancefloor, and good vibes until late.
4. Two Brothers Bar, Fira
If you want a late, wild night, head to Two Brothers. This iconic bar has long been the setting of hazy late nights, with an always-crowded dancefloor and regular events. Two Brothers is a family operation – it opened in 1983 by two brothers (who would have thought?) and is now run by their sons. What began as a relaxed island bar has evolved into Santorini’s place to be for a crazy night out. Go on a Saturday night and take advantage of the happy hour: 2-for-1 cocktails from 9 PM until 12 AM.
5. Buddha Bar, Imerovigli
Buddha Bar isn’t cheap, but if you can swing it, it’s worth every cent. The cocktails are excellent, the views of Skaros Rock and the Caldera are incredible, and there’s entertainment in the evening. And if you get peckish, the menu of high-quality Pan Asian dishes with Greek ingredients is exquisite. But if you’re strictly here for the drinks (and maybe some light bites) head straight for the Sunset Lounge. Be wowed by both the craft mixology and the beautiful sunset views.
6. PK Cocktail Bar, Fira
Sip some of Santorini’s best cocktails while soaking up the impossibly beautiful Caldera views. It’s the kind of views you dreamt about when booking your Santorini trip – white, flat-roofed houses tumbling down to the expansive, inky blue sea. PK is one of the oldest and most-loved bars on Santorini, and its iconic red door is the starting point for memorable nights on the island. There’s plenty of space with three levels.
7. Tropical, Fira
For a stripped-back bar that offers incredible Caldera sunset views, Tropical is your best bet. It’s not as flashy as other popular sunset bars, but it has a charming rustic vibe, and it’s been under the same family ownership since the 1980s. They serve delicious cocktails, cold beers, and freshly squeezed juices. When the sun goes down, the dance floor starts to fill up. Happy hour is on every night between 9 PM and 11 PM, and there’s a DJ on from 10 PM until late. It’s the perfect place for a laid-back party in Santorini. There’s a reason it’s long been one of the best bars in Santorini.
