The famous city built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea is a holiday hotspot for celebrities, local Italians and tourists alike. Venice has no roads, just canals, so exploring the city by watertaxi or gondola makes it extra special.

As it’s such a beautiful place, we wanted to discover the 7 best places to get an Instagram shot for that perfect travel photo. Get the camera out for these photogenic places…

1. Ponte Dei Sospiri

Officially translates as the “bridge of the sighs”. The bridge itself is fully enclosed and made from white limestone, making it a wonderfully unique Venice Instagram shot.

2. Cannaregio

Well away from the flocks of tourists who descend on the city , you’ll have much more time and space to enjoy Venice in this area. You’ll find it in the far North and it is the ideal place for a relaxed stroll.

3. San Polo

A small but magnificently colourful area of Venice that looks like a real life oil painting. You’ll find any number of great spots for that iconic Instagram shot.

4. Rialto Bridge

One of the most famous bridges in the world, it’s instantly recognisable as Venice iust from one picture. For an ideal photo grab a boat and sail up underneath it. It’s always sure to be busy so super early morning is also an option.

5. Grand Canal

If you can imagine large main street or highway in your local city and replace it with water this is what it looks like. Boats jostle for position and you could stand there watching the action for hours.
