So, next time you’re visiting, plan on tucking into a plate of world-class ribs at any one of these seven restaurants in Glasgow. The ribs are finger-lickin’ good, and we mean that quite literally.
Best Ribs In Glasgow
1. Dennistoun Bar-B-Que
Dennistoun Bar-B-Que is a locally-owned BBQ joint serving up truly Southern USA vibes and some of the best ribs in Glasgow. Really, all of their BBQ meats are a thing of true beauty. But, their ribs are definitely a standout menu item. Smoked over imported post-oak in-house, they’re incredibly juicy and tender while still featuring a nice smokey flavour that doesn’t overpower the sauce. In short, they’re simply irresistible.
2. Van Winkle
When you hear “bourbon-flavoured barbecue foods” does your mouth start to tingle immediately? Same. That’s the effect Van Winkle has on guests. And, it’s only intensified when you actually get a taste of the goodness. Try everything on the menu, but start with the ribs. The baby back ribs come smothered in your choice of tantalising sauces. Choose between Bourbon BBQ, Buffalo or their own Bourbon Hot Sauce.
3. Viva Brazil
As the only full, authentic Brazilian steakhouse in Glasgow, it comes as no surprise that Viva Brazil reigns supreme in terms of fantastic smoked meats. Dining here ensures you can sample different flavours from their 14 different Brazilian BBQ meats. Amongst those are their beef ribs. They’re slow-roasted over hot coals for up to three hours to accentuate their natural rich flavour. Then, they’re infused with rosemary and thyme.
4. The Crafty Pig
We ranked The Crafty Pig as having some of the best chicken wings in the city. And, while they’re also known for their maple syrup slathered brunch, it’s the old school, slow-cooked smokey BBQ that steals the show. Order a full rack of their tender, juicy ribs. Choose between dry, sticky honey chilli or BBQ sauce. Or, visit with a few hungry friends and order one each so you can sample all of the fine flavours.
5. Brel
Combining a fantastic beer selection with some of the city’s best BBQ and, quite honestly, a long list of other fantastic dishes, Brel shines bright in a sea of Glasgow restaurants. Rent out the beer garden and watch as they cook the food right in front of your eyes. Order the full rack of ribs, which comes with Brel’s frites and aioli. Be sure to save room for a super sweet dive into the chocolate fondue for dessert.
6. The Raven
On the hunt for roast meats and craft beers? The Raven is the spot for you. They source only the finest meats to craft some of the tastiest smoked dishes in the city. And, while it’s all impressive, there’s something particularly tempting about the baby back ribs. They’re Memphis dry-rubbed pork ribs that they’ve hickory slow0smoked overnight until they nearly fall off the bone. Then, they glaze them with Bourbon BBQ or gator hot sauce.
7. BrewDog Merchant City
This is another popular spot that made our list of the best chicken wings in Glasgow as well as one of the city’s top craft beer bars. In short, they’re absolutely killing it on every front and that especially includes their fresh smoked meats. Sample their St. Louis-style ribs by order their Trinity Sampler. Featuring pulled pork, brisket and ribs, it’s everything you need to enjoy a filling meal paired with a cold craft beer.
