Geography

Cambridge is situated beyond the western suburbs of Perth, on the shores of the Indian Ocean. Like the rest of the Greater Perth area, it sits on a coastal plain. You can drive to the city centre of Perth in less than 20  minutes.

Climate

Cambridge experiences a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. It is located in one of Australia’s sunniest regions, so look forward to clear skies on most days. Rainfall mainly occurs between May and September.

Admire local artwork

The Boulevard Centre displays a large collection of paintings by artists living in Cambridge. It also plays the role of a town hall, hosting meetings, conferences and seminars on a regular basis. Mingle with the locals by attending an event here.

Explore a medical museum

The Western Australian Medical Museum is a testament to how much mainstream medicine has evolved since the 1900s. Some of the surgical implements on display look worryingly like weapons. Notable exhibits here include an old operating theatre and a plane assigned to the Royal Flying Doctors.

Enjoy the countryside

At the Coal River Farm just outside the town, visitors have the rare opportunity to taste locally made cheese and chocolate. Recline on a garden chair and look out at the farmland as you munch on a bar of artisan chocolate.

Eating out in Cambridge

At Petit Mort, a highly Instagrammable French restaurant, go for the La Saveur degustation menu. Prego Restaurant makes memorable Italian dishes – try the tortellini moreton bay bugs. Brace yourself for huge servings of mouth-watering Greek souvlaki at George’s Meze. If you fancy east Asian food, visit My Bayon, where tender meats are topped with aromatic broths.
