1. Cape of Good Hope

A rocky headland that has been known by sailors navigating these waters for hundreds of years. These days the ships stay well clear, and people prefer to get their selfie with the distinctive sign.

2. Victoria & Alfred Waterfront

The perfect place to come when in Cape Town to enjoy the gentle evening sun set and have a pre-dinner drink and enjoy the buzz. With the mountains in the background and water to the side, you’ll get some cracking pics. You’ll find more info here.

3. Knysna Elephant Park

No trip to Africa would be complete with an up close encounter with its wildlife and this is the perfect spot to interact with elephants in the Western Cape. You’ll find more info here.

4. Hermanus Whale Watching

Drive down the coast and you’ll find this wonderful little town that’s a super spot to watch the whales (June to December). Unusually, you don’t even have to get a boat and can see them from the shore.

5. Stellenbosch

One of the most beautiful wine making regions in the world. Book yourself into a couple of tours and try to decide which is better…the wine, or the scenery.

6. Table Mountain

One of the most famous backdrops to any city in the world. Take the cable car to the top and get a great view of the city. It often gets cloudy or foggy so plan ahead and try visit on a clear day.

7. Robben Island

The most sombre stop on the list is a former jail for political prisoners. In total, three former inmates of Robben Island have gone on to become President of South Africa including its most famous resident Nelson Mandela.
