Looking to hit up the biggest party spots in England? We’ve got you covered. Though almost every English city has somewhere to dance the night away, there are some places where the late-night scene is outrageously good. Whether you are looking for an epic all-nighter in a superclub with a super start DJ or are looking for something a little more low-key, here are the cities with the best nightlife in England.

7 cities with the best nightlife in England

1. London

The city of London is famous for its high-end clubs, live music venues and atmospheric pubs. SoHo is one of the best places in London for nightlife, and some of our favourite nightlife venues are Fabric in Farringdon, Heaven near Charing Cross station, and Ministery of Sound in southeast London. Soho for its ridiculously fun cabaret clubs – there are several spots to catch an old-school cabaret and burlesque show, including Late Night at the Midnight Lounge. Camden is another great spot for nightlife and is home to rock and indie bars and iconic music venues, while Mayfair is the polar opposite, where it’s more of a cocktail and hotel bars kind of vibe.

2. Manchester

The nightlife in Manchester is some of the best in the UK, especially when it comes to live music venues. One of the trendiest and best places to head in the city is to the Northern Quarter. Here you’ll find cool pubs and quirky bars. There are so many places to recommend, but some of our favourites are Terrace, Cane & Grain, Flok, Pen and Pencil, Twenty Twenty Two, and the Freemount. There are some really great live music venues here, too, including Band on the Wall and Matt & Phreds.

3. Newcastle

Newcastle is particularly popular with students, and across the city’s venues, there are student nights every day of the week. Which means cheap booze! Quayside has a string of bars, restaurants, and clubs, all overlooking the water. They range from fancy bars to Wetherspoons, so there’s something for everyone here. Diamond Strip is a huge area where you’ll find swanky bars and glamorous clubs. It’s the place to head on a weekend night.

4. Liverpool

Liverpool is one of the UK’s top nightlife destinations due to its wide variety of venues, many conveniently located in the town centre. That means most of Liverpool’s nightlife scene is within walking distance. So, no night buses or expensive taxis to take. Some of our favourite places to hit up are Concert Square, Seel Street, and Mathew Street – home to the iconic Cavern Club, where the Beatles played hundreds of times. And if you want super-cool, trendy bars, head to Baltic Triangle, where you’ll also find underground clubs to dance the night away.

5. Leeds

The nightlife scene in Leeds is legendary. There are loads of nightclubs where you can dance the night away. One of the most popular is Pryzm at Merrion Street and Woodhouse Lane. Leeds has a very lively nightlife scene with something for everybody, no matter what night of the week it is or what vibe you want. From fancy cocktail bars to craft ale houses, intimate jazz bars to superclubs, Leeds is a great night out.

6. Brighton

Brighton has a wild and varied nightlife scene, from cabaret clubs to a quirky Alcotraz-inspired bar. The city is also the gay capital of the UK, with Kemp Town, the Gay Village, bursting with LGBTQ+ clubs and bars. It’s super fun and friendly, and everyone is welcome to party the night away. The Lanes is another great place packed with restaurants and traditional cosy pubs.

7. Bristol

Bristol is a cool city home to lots of trendy bars and events. Stokes Croft is full of great bars, pubs, and live music spots. The Crofters Rights is one of the best pubs, and for live music, head to the Canteen, which is right next to a famous Banksy mural. Lakota is a must for underground dance music lovers. Bristol also has a beautiful Old City where you’ll find traditional speakeasies, bars, and jazz clubs.
