The 7 Best Brunch Spots In Belfast

Europe Food Bars

The brunch scene here is pretty banging. With classic comforts like fluffy pancake stacks, grilled cheese sandwiches and huevos rancheros, brunch in Belfast is as good as it gets. While it used to be the case that Dublin was where all the best brunchin’ spots were, it’s now Belfasts time to shine.

We’ve done the hungry (well, greedy!) work to suss out the best brunch spots in the city. Get ready for a feast…

Best Brunch Spots In Belfast

1. General Merchants

The brunch here is similar to what you would find in Australia – which makes sense, as the owner used to live there. A seasonal menu of local ingredients means there’s always a new dish to try, but firm brekkie favourites are key here. Must-eats include the Irish porridge and the ‘Manwich’ with Clonakilty black pudding and Ballymaloe relish.

2. The Bullitt

The lobby bar and cafe in the hip Bullitt Hotel is one of the best places for brunch in Belfast. You could spend the night here in one of the stylish-yet-small rooms, or else just pop in for a great feed. Highlights include several different stuffed brioche buns or a delicious hash potato dish with salt beef, fried egg and pickles.

P.S. They do a slick bottomless brunch every Sunday!

3. Established Coffee

This casual haunt features Irish- and American-roasted coffee beans made into expertly brewed coffee and an amazing brunch menu. The corner shop is spacious, sleek and clean with light bites too. Order a latte with a bite of breakfast.

What to order? The sourdough with avocado is always a hit, but they also have some great baps on the menu and huevos rancheros.

4. Hadskis

This popular spot in the Cathedral Quarter is a must-visit. Choose from a full cooked breakfast with fresh baked soda farls, egg dishes, waffles with bacon and maple syrup, and porridge with honey and cream – all made with local ingredients. Make it a boozy brunch with morning-friendly cocktails…

5. Miel et Moi

Slept in a little late? Not to worry, as this cute French-style patisserie has an all-day breakfast menu that has something for everyone. Why not make it a bottomless brunch? Choose an item from the menu and enjoy it with bottomless prosecco, mimosas or espresso martinis. Yum.

6. Avoca Cafe

A popular homeware and eatery store with several locations in Ireland, Avoca has a hearty menu full of delicious bites to eat. Visit the café on the first floor in Avoca for a colourful breakfast menu of poached eggs, smoked salmon, shakshuka and traditional cooked options. Feel like something lighter? Go for one of their smoothie bowls with fresh fruit.

7. Harlem Cafe

This charming bistro only does brunch on Sunday, but it’s well worth the wait for it. A full breakfast plate is piled high with locally produced pork sausage, oak smoked bacon, free range egg, grilled tomato, sauté mushrooms, potato bread, soda bread, pancake & black pudding. Order the French toast if you feel like something sweet.
