Let’s raise a glass to one of the most lovely wineries and tasting rooms. The Helm Wines tasting room is housed in an 1888 Toual Public School House, which is listed by the National Trust. Ironically, the Temperance League used to hold meetings here where locals signed the pledge against alcohol. The wines produced here are elegant and subtle and you can really taste the region in each drop. Be sure to taste the outstanding Helm WInes Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Edward Tyrrell established Tyrell’s winery in 1858 and it is now one of Australia’s oldest family-owned wineries. The winery is famous for its Vat 1 Semillon but it also produces great shiraz and chardonnay, as well as fortified and sparkling wines. During a visit, you can enjoy a winery tour and see the ironbark hut that was the original home of Edward Tyrrell. You can also experience the historic red cellar and learn how the wines are made. After the tour, comes the best bit, a wine tasting showcasing the best wines.

Wirra Wirra Vineyards is famed for producing intense McLaren Vale red wines and elegant Adelaide Hills white wines. The Wirra Wirra philosophy of letting the ‘fruit shine’ is evident in every bottle. The cellar door is the best place to sample these expressive wines. The wines also pair perfectly with the regional food platter from the on-site deli.
