Queensland wineries make the most of the cool climate of the Hinterlands of the Great Dividing Range. Queensland’s signature white grape varieties include Verdelho, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. You will also find some less common grape varieties for instance Fiano, Semillon and Vermentino. The most common red grape varietals are shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and grenache. Brisbane is in the southeast corner of Queensland, so are the state’s officially recognized wine regions: the Granite Belt and South Burnett. Therefore, there are plenty of wineries nearby that make great day trips from the city. So, when you want to unwind in the vines, here are some of the best wineries near Brisbane.
