1. Go to the beach

Is it possible to visit Florida without going to the beach at least once? We don’t think so. There are tons of beautiful beaches to visit in St Petersburg, but St. Pete, Fort de Soto Park and Egmont Key National Wildlife Refuge are all great choices. St. Pete has been a top-ranked beach, so it can be busier. Visit Fort de Soto for plenty of room to spread out without the same crowds.

2. See the Chihuly Collection

Part of the stunning Morean Arts Center, this permanent Chihuly exhibit is a must-do. Dale Chihuly is a master glass artist famous for his colourful and intricate works. This exhibit includes some of his most famous works as well as glass-blowing demonstrations.

3. Visit Florida Orange Groves Winery

There’s more to drinks than Florida orange juice at the Florida Orange Groves Winery. Made from an array of tropical fruits, these wines are worth sampling. These wines are made from 100% juice and no grapes at all. The winery has even one more than 350 medals for its wines.

4. See wildlife

To see more than seagulls on the shores, visit the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary to get up close and personal with some of the many species of birds that call St. Petersburg home. The non-profit treats around 3,000 injured birds each year and affords guests the opportunity to learn more about the animals.

5. Walk the world’s longest pier

Spanning Tampa Bay, the Skyway Fishing Pier State Park is the world’s longest fishing pier. While it’s a popular fishing spot, it’s also a great place for a breezy walk with great views of the water. Snacks, drinks and fishing supplies are available for purchase on the pier too.

6. Visit the Salvador Dalí Museum

The Dalí is dedicated to the life and works of Salvador Dalí and houses the largest body of his work outside of Europe. The comprehensive permanent exhibit includes objects, paintings, sketches, photographs and much more. Check the calendar for events like yoga at the museum.

7. See the Sunken Gardens

St. Petersburg’s Sunken Gardens are lush and curated botanical gardens located in a historic neighbourhood. The gardens have existed there for more than a century, and feature vibrant, tropical plants as well as a butterfly atrium. It’s among the oldest roadside attractions in the United States.
