The hip little sister of NYC is where you’ll find the coolest bars, alt art galleries, and the best rooftop views of that spectacular New York skyline. But most importantly, we repeat: the best bars in Brooklyn are among the best in all of New York.
From rooftop terraces to Tiki bars, whiskey bars, and everything in between, this is one spot where you’ll never fail to have a good night out.
Here’s our pick of the very best watering holes in Williamsburg and beyond.
Best bars in Brooklyn
1. Grand Army
This Boerum Hill hangout is known for its creatively quirky cocktails. The menu changes regularly, with previous themes including Gilmore Girls and My Little Pony. Right now, the summer drinks menu is based around colourful gemstones.
Stop by for their amazing $1 oyster Happy Hour (5-7pm Monday-Friday, 2-4pm Saturday-Sunday.)
2. The Surf Bar
The drinks are strong and the atmosphere lively at this lovely sandy floored Tiki bar in Williamsburg.
Fresh fish and Hawaiian food make for great daytime snacks. Tiki drinks and a cosy backyard patio with music and fairylights make for even better evenings.
3. House of Yes
Brooklyn’s wildest club is a “performance fuelled” nightclub that’s part-bar, part-circus.
Most of their Friday and Saturday parties are themed (electro/disco/Burlesque), and you have to dress in costume on weekends. It’s wild and oh-so wonderful, and easily one of the best bars in Brooklyn.

4. Summerly
This beautiful terrace bar reopened in May for summer 2019 and we have a severe soft spot for its rosy (or rosé) hues and dreamy cocktails.
The crown jewel atop of The Hoxton Hotel, Summerly offers panoramic views of Williamsburg and Manhattan, beautiful New England-inspired seafood dishes and, um, lots of fun!
5. Sycamore
With 75 bourbons and whiskeys, eight draft lines of craft brews, and over 20 types of bottled beer, this cute bar hidden behind a flower store has something for everyone.
Add in Trivia Nights, Bingo Burlesque and a pretty ivy-covered back garden, and this spot ticks all the boxes.
6. Noorman’s Kil
A cosy neighbourhood bar, Noorman’s Kil has over 400 whiskies to chase down their amazing grilled cheese sandwiches. There’s also 12 rotating beers are available on tap along with other spirits for the non-whiskey drinkers.
Sit at the bar to chat about the whiskeys with the skilled bartenders, or head out to the backyard to soak up some rays.
7. Pearl’s Social & Billy Club
With a full bar, extensive cocktail menu, 12 rotating taps and a complete non-alcoholic menu, Pearl’s is a great spot for a drink or two. It’s a Bushwick institution at this stage, with friendly staff and board games to play.
Be sure to try the famous Pearl’s Press, made with freshly juiced ginger every day!
