The Perfect Way To Spend 48 Hours In Monaco

As the wealthiest and most exclusive enclave on the planet, Monaco is the perfect place to have a go at living La Belle Vie for a couple of days. 48 hours in Monaco will lead to one of the best weekends you’ll experience.

Think: soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine alongside purring supercars and mega-sized yachts, and whiling away evenings in stylish bistros and iconic casinos

Here’s How to Spend 48 Hours in Monaco

Day One:

Head For the Heart of Monte Carlo

After drooling over your lavish room at the ornate Hotel Hermitage, head out and make the two-minute walk to Casino Square, the landmark heart of the Monte Carlo district. Be sure to clock the price tags in the windows of the high-end boutiques lining exclusive Avenue des Beaux Arts along the way.

When you arrive, sit in the park overlooking the main square and watch the sleek supercars and well-heeled beautiful people parade in front of the casino.

Check Out the Hotel de Paris

Soak up the decadent style of this mega-luxe hotel’s cavernous lobby then enjoy a drink in the cool, Rat Pack-style Bar Americain. If you’re feeling flush then by all means refuel in style at one of the two Michelin-starred restaurants, Le Vistamar and Louis XV-Alain Ducasse.

Be sure to rub the bended right knee of the ‘lucky’ bronze horse statue as you leave – doing so will bring you good fortune at the casino!

Hit the Casino!

When evening time rolls around, put on your glad rags and ascend the steps to the world’s most prestigious casino. Take obligatory selfies in the glorious marble-floored atrium then enter the main gaming rooms to place a few bets and drink in the gilded, old-world surroundings.

You’ll soon understand why this place inspired Ian Fleming to write his very first James Bond novel (keep your eyes peeled for megalomanic super-villains).

Day Two:

Kick Back on the Beach

Fill up on the huge buffet breakfast laid-out in the hotel’s Gustave Eiffel designed dining room then head down to the perfectly-formed beach at Larvotto. It’s small and relaxing and has a beautifully calm Japanese garden just five minutes’ walk away.

Go See the Grimaldis

Monaco’s much-loved ruling family, the Grimaldis, live in a picturesque castle perched atop a rock in the principality’s evocative old town. Explore the narrow cobbled streets and take in the sweeping views of the harbour before pitching up for a casual meal at one of the unpretentious, family-run cafes squirrelled away down the back streets.

Sip Cocktails at the Café de Paris

Sitting directly adjacent to the casino, the terrace of the legendary Café de Paris is Monte Carlo’s premier place to enjoy a spot of people watching as the sun goes down. Order a long drink or three, soak up the languid Mediterranean vibe and let Monaco’s timeless Belle Epoque charm work its magic on you…
