Where is the best nightlife in Barcelona?
1. Barceloneta beach
If you want to party until the early hours, Barceloneta beach is the place to go. You’ll find plenty of superclubs along the beachfront, with pulsating music and neon lights, don’t they don’t really get going until at least 12 am. Make sure you dress to impress because the door staff are quite particular about dress codes. Our favourite places to sip cocktails are on the rooftop lounges of places like CDLC, Shoko, and Bestial. The crème de la crème of Barceloneta’s clubs is Opium. It’s gained popularity through hosting many international acts and for its fantastic location.
2. El Gotico
Looking to mingle with tourists in British and Irish pubs? Head to El Gotico, or the Gothic Quarter. As you can imagine, with Irish pubs a-plenty, this is one of the most touristy places in all of Barcelona, so most bars cater to that clientele. If you want something a bit more traditional, head to Bar El Jardi – a beautiful outdoor bar located in the gardens of a medieval complex.
3. L’Eixample
You’ll find some of the best bars in Barcelona in L’Eixample. Head to the Dow Jones Bar: The Barcelona Drink Exchange for something unique. It’s the one place where a stock market crash is a good thing. The bar has a screen simulating the stock market, with the prices of the drinks varying. Sometimes, the “market” crashes, and one drink suddenly becomes really cheap. Wait till you see the rush to the bar!
4. El Born
Though located next to the Gothic Quarter, El Born is far less touristy. In one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in Barcelona, you’ll find classy bars like the Pitin Bar and Bar El Born. El Born is one of the best places in Barcelona to party like a local, sipping sangria whilst nibbling on tapas in between catching up with friends.
5. El Raval
El Raval is the place to be for hip bars, cocktail joints, and traditional tapas spots. The nightlife hub in El Raval is Rambla de Raval, where you’ll find a whole host of bars. You can also head over to the ever-so-trendy Joaquim Costa Street. This narrow street has small, cool bars and is a great place to go bar-hopping.
6. Mediterranean sea
For parties on the water, head to Port Olimpic, and catch a party boat for nightlife right out on the Mediterranean sea. Boat trips mostly run in the summer months, but the summer season lasts a long time in balmy Barcelona. There are many boat trips from which to choose, including classy champagne at sunset voyages to wild booze cruises that go on until 12 am.
7. Gràcia
For great tapas bars, make your way to Gràcia, Barcelona’s trendiest neighbourhood. It’s not as booming as other parts of town, but it has a distinct Catalonian charm that sets it apart from the rest. Some of our favourite spots here include La Vietnamita and L’Entresol. The area’s main square, Placa del Sol, is crammed with bars, including Sol Soer, which serves up homemade tapas and great wine and beers.
