Sarah Clayton-Lea | | 2 minutes Read

Maharashtrian dishes can be roughly classified into two styles- Konkan and Varadi. The area on the coast of the Arabian Sea is called Konkan, with the food here including coconuts and seafood. Inland, the cuisine is Varadi, which uses lots of spice and mutton. And of course, let’s not forget the region’s foodie capital: Mumbai. Street food in Mumbai is some of the tastiest in the country, making this region a hotspot for food.

The people of Maharashtra regard their food as ‘Anna he poornabrahma’ which means food is equal to God. They worship food! You might not be able to travel there right now, but we wanted to highlight some of the best recipes from the region. These recipes come from the very best food bloggers in the world, so make sure to bookmark their sites.

Grab yourself some good fresh produce and invite some friends or family over. Time to get into the kitchen and to start cooking up some of these classics. The perfect way to test yourself if you are an aspiring home cook!
