Where do the locals go in for a good glass of wine? As the largest metropolitan city in the Lombardy region, it comes as no surprise that some of the country’s most artisanal wines are crafted just outside of Milan. Rare, small productions and labels are shipped to the city for eager visitors to enjoy.

The Lombardy region is home to the highest concentration of Michelin starred restaurants in Italy, which means that the best wine are the perfect place to stop off for an aperitivo before indulging in some of the country’s finest most well-crafted food. But, with so many choices, where should you go first?

We’ve ranked the seven best wine bars in for you. These are the places where even the locals go to enjoy a fine glass of Moscato, Riesling, or Sauvignon Blanc.

Best Wine Bars In Milan

1. Cantine Isola

You’d be hard pressed to find a wine bar in Milan that’s more frequently mentioned as the best of the best than Cantine Isola. The bar itself has been around for over 120 years, but the current owner’s managed it since 1992. And, while you can stay for a while and sip on sumptuous glasses of wine, we suggest browsing their over 1,7000 bottles available. Simply browsing even feels fun and indulgent, and the quality of taste is even better.

2. Cantina Urbana

Cantina Urbana was actually Italy’s first city winery and last year they released their first 100% Riesling for thirsty guests to try. However, what makes this place one of the best wine bars in Milan is the unique experience you’ll have upon visiting. Here, you can sample one of the many fine wines they have on tap. If you find something you like, simply ask them to fill and cork a bottle for you to take home.

3. La Cieca

One publication rated La Cieca as being one of the best bars in Milan for singles. And, it’s likely due to the fact that it’s so small and cosy inside. You’ll have no choice but to cosy up to the table next to you and start a conversation over one of their famous anonymous wines. It’s also worth stopping by their sister bar La Cieca Pink where they serve only, you guessed it, rosé.

4. El Buscia

El Buscia is modern, trendy, and inviting. But, what else do you expect from the city’s best bar for indulging in sparkling wine? El vin che buscia means sparkling wine in the local dialect, essentially, and that’s exactly what you’ll find at El Buscia. Hundreds of bottles of Italy’s finest sparkling wine and champagne line the walls of this bar. It’s going to be hard to limit yourself to just one or two glasses here.

5. N’Ombra de Vin

In terms of style and atmosphere, N’Ombra de Vin is by far the best wine bar in Milan. It’s spacious and charming, situated inside of an old 16th-century dining hall of Augustinian monks. Dimly-lit and oozing of eccentric charm, this is the spot to enjoy a glass of wine with friends if you’re visiting Milan. Indulge in a glass or two of your favourite, as they’re likely to serve something you’ll love, and order a few nibbles to enjoy as you relax into the Milan night.

6. Signorvino

It’s hard to beat the jaw-dropping views you’ll find at Signorvino. This three-story wine bar is home to some of the best spots to peer out over and onto the famous Duomo. And, while you’re enjoying the views you can sip on a variety of quality wines from all over Italy. Red, white, Lombardy, or Tuscan, they’ve got it all. And, their food menu even comes with pairing suggestions to ensure your palate indulges in only the very best.

7. Vindromo

It’s hard to construct a list of the best wine bars in Milan without including Vindromo. This impressive bar is home to over 500 different wines. Yes, you read that right. And, not only is their wine list extensive, but the bar’s decor is one of the trendiest on this list. Expect modern vibes and old-world tastes. The fusion is enchanting and irresistible, ensuring you’ll be back for more than just one glass.
