1. Marietta

Sautee Nacoochee is a small, unincorporated area four miles east of the Bavarian City of Helen. One of our favourite things to do here is to take to the trails in the Chattahoochee National Forest to the stunning Anna Ruby waterfalls. This has to be one of the most romantic spots in the whole of Georgia.

Asheville is about a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Atlanta, so makes for a nice weekend getaway. The Blue Ridge Mountains surround this town, and the French Broad River borders it meaning you can get out and enjoy kayaking, rafting, hiking, cycling, and climbing. When you work up a hunger and thirst, there are lots of craft breweries and excellent restaurants with a laid-back vibe.

5. Adairsville

Looking for a destination with history, heritage and heart? Then make your way to Adairsville, the first Georgia town to be listed in its entirety on the National Register of Historic Places. Downtown Adairsville is home to many intact historic buildings, including the original train depot, which was part of the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862. Adairsville is also known for the beautiful Barnsley Gardens, an elegant 1840s estate, where you can explore the gardens and enjoy horseback riding and a round of golf.
