Exploring the birthplace of rock n’ roll and home of the Blues? Whether you prefer to stay downtown near iconic Beale Street, overlooking the Mighty Mississippi River, or across the street from Graceland, here are the seven best hotels in Memphis.

From sophisticated and cool, to historical, themed, boutique, or B&B—here’s where to stay the next time you visit Memphis. You won’t want to leave these beautiful places…

Best hotels in Memphis

1. The Peabody

Elegant and glamorous, “the South’s Grand Hotel,” is just a block away from Beale Street. Even if you don’t stay in the historic Peabody’s recently renovated rooms, head to the 150-year-old hotel’s ornate lobby fountain at 11am or 5pm to witness the infamous The Peabody Duck March.

After the march of mallards, have a drink and enjoy piano tunes in the “the living room of Memphis”. It’s the historic Peabody Hotel’s grand, two-story marble-columned lobby lounge.

Just across Elvis Blvd from the King of Rock n’ Roll’s abode, The Guest House at Graceland has 450 modern, spacious rooms, including 20 lavish themed suites on the top floor, designed by Mrs. Priscilla Presley herself.

Order a Jailhouse Rocks from the hotel bar and bring your cocktail outside to be enjoyed by the heart-shaped firepit. When in Memphis…

4. The James Lee House

This gorgeous Victorian mansion is a National Historic Landmark, built in the mid-19th century. The beautiful, romantic B&B is near Downtown in the heart of Victorian Village, home to some of Memphis’ most stunning architecture.

As well as comfortable four-poster beds, River Inn’s highlights include a complimentary glass of champagne or wine at check-in, and port wine and chocolate truffles at turn-down. Book early! The James Lee House only has five suites.

5. Hotel Napoleon

This repurposed Winchester office building downtown was built in 1902 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Nice, huh? Its classic architecture gives way to an ultra-modern industrial interior.

Located Downtown, the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid houses Big Cypress Lodge, as well as a restaurant at the top (with 360-degree views of Memphis and the Mississippi River). There’s also an ocean-themed bowling alley, a swamp—complete with alligators, an aquarium, and an archery range in addition to retail space.
