1. Golden Gate Bridge

2. Alcatraz

Alcatraz is a tiny island that is short boat ride away from San Francisco. It used to be a military and federal prison but today, it is one of the best tourist activities to do in San Francisco.

Visit this fortress in the middle of the ocean that has held some of the most notorious criminals in American history, including Al Capone.

3. Fisherman’s Wharf

Fisherman’s Wharf is a prime tourist area that features the infamous Pier 39 and other great things to do. The Pier itself has lots of restaurants and shopping options and great views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge off in the distance.

5. Twin Peaks

For the best views of San Francisco, head up to Twin Peaks. Here, you’ll get panoramic views of the Bay Area from close to 1,000 feet from the ground.

Parking is limited at Twin Peaks but you can also hike your way up here too.

6. Chinatown

San Francisco has four separate Chinatowns and that’s because this city has the largest Chinese population in the United States. The Grant Avenue Chinatown is the biggest and oldest one in North America.

7. Golden Gate Park

Golden Gate Park is the largest park in San Francisco and to give you an idea of its enormity, it is 20% larger than New York’s Central Park. With over 1,000 acres of lush greenery, spend an afternoon getting some exercise and taking in some beautiful scenery.

For a lovely walk in the park (literally), take a stroll in Golden Gate Park and stop at one of the many restaurants, cafes, and bars along the way!
