Looking for things to do in Perth? Perth’s sunny weather, relaxed outdoor lifestyle and hip urban centre makes it a seriously great city to visit when in Australia.

Throw in the fact that it’s a pretty wine region and has one of the most spectacularly unspoilt coastlines in the world, and it’s clear that Perth has it all.

We’ve done your holiday planning for you (we’re nice like that!) and rounded up the seven unmissable things to do in Perth. These are the things you simply have to do when in this fun Aussie city.

1. See the sunset at Cottesloe Beach

Perth’s iconic Cottesloe Beach is as pretty as a picture. It’s one of the city’s most popular spots for swimming, snorkelling, surfing and you’ll see an incredible sunset over the Indian Ocean. There’s a buzzing boulevard of bars and restaurants that you can take a breather in.

2. Get a quokka selfie at Rottnest Island

Just outside of Perth, the pretty car-free Rottnest Island is a must-visit. Along with more than 60 beaches, coral reefs harbouring tropical fish, and history-packed buildings, Rottnest is home to an Instagram star, the super friendly quokka. Using a selfie stick is a good idea, so that you can keep a little distance.

3. Check out the Fremantle Markets

With over 150 stalls, open Friday-Sunday, the Fremantle Markets are a must-see for locals and tourists alike. Visit The Hall for crafts, and The Yard for organic fresh produce, dining, espresso bar, cheeses and bakeries, seafood and meats. Live music adds an extra bohemian vibe.

4. Catch a film at The Rooftop Movies

Rooftop Movies is in the heart of Northbridge, and is an incredibly cool outdoor rooftop cinema with an insane view. Settle in with drink from their Rooftop bar in one hand and a delicious treat from the pop-up food vendors in the other.

Make sure to get a shot of the panoramic views of the Perth city skyline from the comfy beanbags.

5. Explore the wineries of Swan Valley

Western Australia’s oldest wine region, the Swan Valley, is home to 40 vineyards, many with cellar doors offering boozy tastings of the region’s warm-climate wines. Drive, cycle or cruise around to a chocolate factory, coffee roaster, craft breweries and a native animal park.

6. Stroll through King’s Park

King’s Park is one of the biggest city parks in the world – bigger than Central Park in New York City! – and it’s right in the heart of Perth. There’s epic views of the Swan and Canning rivers and the skyscrapers. The scenic green park also has a treetop bridge, bushland trails, manicured gardens and cafés.

7. Discover the cool small bar scene in Northbridge

The small bar movement in Perth city centre and the inner city suburb of Northbridge has exploded, and the bars here are a must-see if you want a night out on the town.

Hop from Ezra Pound bar to live music hotspot The Bird. Then whisper a password to the doorman at speakeasy bar Sneaky Tony’s (get the password for the day from the bar’s Facebook page!)
