Independence Hall

Independence Hall was built in 1776 as the State House of the Colony of Pennsylvania and is best remembered as the location where the Continental Congress issued the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It was also where, 11 years later, the Continental Congress gathered to write the United States Constitution, and George Washington was chosen as the Continental Army's Commander-in-Chief. The Liberty Bell Pavilion is across the street from Independence Hall. All these sites are free to enter. From the airport, get on I-95 N from Garage Access, follow I-95 N to Callowhill St, take exit 22 from I-95 N, then drive down N 6th St to reach the Independence Hall. It’s a 15-minute drive.

Fairmount Park

Located along the Schuylkill River and Wissahickon Creek, the popular Fairmount Park is home to the Philadelphia Zoo, the Rodin Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Shofuso Japanese house and garden, which was made in Japan in 1953 with traditional materials and tools, was transported to Philadelphia and erected with other Japanese constructions in the park. You may take a tour of the house as well as the Japanese gardens, which include a koi pond and an island. From the airport, get on PA-291 E/Penrose Ave from Garage Access Rd and take Exit 13. Merge with PA-291 E/Penrose Ave, then turn left onto S 26th St. Continue on I-76 W, then drive to US-13 N to reach Fairmount Park. It’s a breezy 16-minute journey by car.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art

The Philadelphia Museum of Art houses one of the largest collections of paintings and other works of art in the United States.
