Editor’s note: Ukraine’s strategic position between the European Union and Russia and the ongoing conflict in the country’s east have caused widespread fear about its safety. While travelling there at the moment is not advisable, tourism in Ukraine is expected to increase as the war is mitigated, as more and more low-cost flights to Ukraine become accessible every day, and as bus and rail connections inside the EU begin linking to key cities like Lviv and Kyiv.
