It isn't as well known as the other Basque Cities, and is often overshadowed by them, however this place still has a lot to offer and is definitely well worth a visit. Vitoria-Gasteiz is the most modest of all the Basque Cities, and the fact that it isn’t on the tourist radar as of yet, only adds to its appeal and authenticity. The old town has some of the best preserved medieval streets and plazas in the region, impressive renaissance architecture and is one of the very few cities that has two cathedrals. This place won't disappoint with its own modern art museum, fine dining restaurants, and unusual locations such as a playing card museum! Now the most fascinating part of the Basque country is its people. The inhabitants are indigenous to this land with their own religion and language. Although Spanish is spoken by all, the original and native language is Basque. Vitoria-Gasteiz is a city that has character, soul and its own vibe which you can thoroughly soak in without disruptions from outside influences, as this area hasn't yet been hit with tourism. So best to enjoy it whilst you can!
