Guide of Lebrija

Geography

Lebrija is a city in Andalusia, situated in sunny southwestern Spain. It is located 62 km southwest of Seville. The city itself is relatively flat, surrounded by gently rolling hills, open farmland, vineyards and olive groves. The Guadalquivir River flows nearby.

Climate in Lebrija

Lebrija has a Mediterranean climate, with hot and dry summers and mild winters. Summer kicks off in June and fizzles out in September. Temperatures during these months average 35°C, though heatwaves regularly occur and temperatures over 40°C are not uncommon.

Autumn and Spring are more popular times to travel to the region, when temperatures are milder and there are fewer crowds. Temperatures generally average between 12-18°C during the winter months, making it a good option for those looking to hit the local sights rather than lounge on the beach.

Culture

Like many southern Spanish cities, the culture of Lebrija is deeply rooted in Andalusian traditions. The city is well-known for its flamenco and hosts dedicated festivals and performances throughout the year. Feria de Lebrija and the Festival de Cante Jondo Antonio Mairena are two of Lebrija’s most important festivals and both feature flamenco performances, traditional music and dance. The city is also well-known for its long history of pottery production. Visitors today can pick up traditional ceramics and pottery made with vibrant colours and intricate designs by local craftsmen.
