For a fab road trip, Lisbon is 314km south along the A1 road and you can reach there in around three hours, passing some stunning windswept beaches on the coastal road along the way. There’s a plethora of activities on offer once you get there, including listening to traditional Fado music from street performers, strolling through Terreiro do Paço Square, sampling the lip-smacking pastel pastries and rich coffee in Belém, and visiting the National Tile Museum.
