Head to the city centre

You can’t visit a city without going to see its city centre. Olbia has one of the most gorgeous city centres in the whole of Italy – so you won’t want to miss this one. The main street of Olbia is the famous Corso Umberto and here you can find so many shopping opportunities – from independent boutiques to famous fashion brands.

If you happen to head to the centre in the evening, the nightlife is something not to be missed. You can enjoy a great night out in one of the many pubs, bars and clubs in the Piazza Regina Margherita region of the city.

If nightlife isn’t your thing, or you just want to spend the day in the centre, then you can benefit being very close to the City Hall and have the opportunity to admire the remains of the Roman Court and ancient Punic defensive walls that still stand today.

Visit Olbia’s Archaeological Museum

The Archaeological Museum in Olbia is one of the very few museums in the entire world to have ship’s remains open to the public. The whole museum is in fact aimed at the reconstruction of one of the main harbours in the Mediterranean. The museum itself has been divided across two floors and you will be welcomed with short films, easy-to-follow explanations and plenty of things to see and learn during your time at the museum. Some of the ships remains that can be seen here belonged to a Roman vessel that was destroyed all the way back in 450 AD – this is something you won’t see anywhere else.

Take a ride on Olbia’s Ferris Wheel

This one is hard to miss. Located right outside the Museum of Archeology is the Maestosa Ferris Wheel. This Ferris Wheel was built in 2019 and has quickly become one of Olbia’s main attractions. The 118 foot structure offers incredible views of the Gulf and you will be able to take those all-important Instagrammable pictures to show off to your friends back home.

Attend one of Olbia’s many festivals

Olbia has so many wonderful festivals all year round. If you come to the town during one of them, you won’t want to miss it as it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see an Italian festival in all of its glory. From the San Simplicio on 15th May, to San Giovanni e Madonna del Mare on 24th June – there is a festival for all sorts of occasions. Before you visit the town, make sure you do your research to see if you could witness one of the festivals as you would not want to miss one.
