Among the various churches in Varoussi is the Agios Stefanos church, built in 1896, but there are also others like Agia Episkopi in 1543, Agios Dimitrios in 1580 and Agia Marina in 1766. Pay your respects at the monastery of Virgin Mary Pelekiti
Near the hamlet of Karitsa, in the 15th century, the monastery of Virgin Mary Pelekiti was established. Through a vision, the Virgin Mary told them where she wanted to build a new monastery and where they should build it. Porfyrios began construction on the monastery in the 15th century, and martyr Damianos completed it. Many of the crypts and hatches were dug by Greek resistance fighters during Ottoman rule.
