Polichni is a suburb of the Thessaloniki Urban Area and a former municipality in the Thessaloniki Regional Unit in Greece. It has been a municipal unit of the Pavlos Melas municipality since the 2011 local government reform.

In terms of both Greek architectural heritage and modernism, the Byzantine Museum ranks among Greece's finest recent public architectural projects. 2,900 artefacts are on display in the 11 permanent galleries. Admire the Arch of Galerius

The city of Thessaloniki apparently constructed the triumphal arch (known today as "Kamara") between 298 and 305 AD to honour Galerius' successful war against the Persians south of the Rotunda. It is one of Thessaloniki's 15 UNESCO World Heritage Site Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments. A total of eight piers, four in each row, were used to build the completed building. Three arched openings were built between the piers, with the central one being the widest and tallest. In comparison to the outer piers, the four centre piers were bigger and joined by semi-circular arches that supported a dome. They contained marble slabs with relief designs. Three original piers are still standing today (different paving on Egnatia Street indicates the location of two of those piers that were destroyed in the east), two of which feature reliefs depicting scenes from the Roman army's 297 AD victory over Persia and other propaganda images for Galerius' military might and the power of the Tetrarchy.
