Visit the Museum of Modern Art (MOMus)

Located in Thessaloniki, the MOMus–Museum of Modern Art–Costakis Collection is a museum devoted to contemporary art. When Thessaloniki was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 1997, the museum was established to commemorate the event. The museum's goal is to conserve and exhibit works of contemporary Greek and international art, among others. Works in the Costakis collection are a source of great pride for the museum. Russian avant-garde art, including paintings, sculptures, sketches and installations, may be found in this collection. The museum's holdings also include 200 works of art, including paintings and sculptures, that were contributed by the Cultural Capital 1997 Organization. Stylianos Antonakos's Chapel of the Heavenly Stairway and Chris Giannacos' Gridlock are among the notable works of Greek diaspora artists.

See the Katouni Bridge at Livaldi

The Katouni stone Bridge was built in 1826 in the Livaldi district and is a marvel to see. It is the biggest bridge ever constructed by the British in Europe, measuring 110 metres in length and supported by 13 gorgeous stone arches. It is a well-preserved artefact of the island's history, belonging to a complicated defensive system established by the island's foreign overlords. This bridge is associated with a wonderful local folklore that will move you. It is rumoured that its builder, British Commissioner Mackwell, fell in love with a beautiful Kythrian woman and had this bridge constructed so he could readily visit her.

Many visitors travelling through Greece prefer to hire a car as it offers comfort, flexibility, and convenience. Greece not only has a great network of well-laid roads but the landscapes on the way are incredibly scenic as well, often with stunning ocean views. If you’re travelling in a large group, consider hiring a minivan. You can also do a one-way hire, which means that you can pick up your vehicle in one city – say Athens – and drop it off in another – like Thessaloniki – before flying out. This would save you the hassle of having to drive it back.
