Geography

Climate
Due to its location next to the North Sea, Esbjerg has a maritime or oceanic climate. This means it has mild summers and cool but not cold winters. Immerse yourself in wildness
The Wadden Sea is one of the world's most valuable tidal areas. It is the world's largest unbroken system of intertidal sand and mudflats. It is home to a multitude of transitional habitats as well as numerous plant and animal species including harbour seals, grey seals and the harbour porpoise. It is also a resting place for a wide variety of waterfowl. Due to its unique ecosystem, it has been inscribed into the UNESCO list of areas of outstanding universal value.
Stare at the statues
Standing 27 feet tall, the Man Meets the Sea monument guards Denmark’s western coast and overlooks both the Wadden and the North Sea. These imposing, alabaster figures were sculpted by Danish artist Svend Wiig Hansen in 1995, which was Esbjerg's 100th anniversary as an independent municipality. They have been attracting the crowds ever since.
