However, the bridge you see today is a reconstructed one completed in 2004 using stones from the old bridge, which was destroyed during the conflict in 1993. Most visitors are unlikely to notice that the market is divided between Bosniak and Croat ethnic groups. The Ottoman influence remains, giving the market an eastern flavour, and the cobblestone construction of the pedestrian market street has been carefully preserved. The stores entice travellers with their diverse selection of gifts, which includes carpets, fabrics, bronze, copper, and ceramic products, painted plates, and lovely trinkets.
