No matter the destination, driving to JER is a good move – when you’re travelling under your own steam, there’s no one to argue with (stroppy children excepted). And the airport is just one of many attractions in Jersey – the largest of the Channel Islands really is something special. With a romantic, rugged coastline, pretty country lanes, beautiful beaches and charming castles, this 9 miles by 5 miles island punches well above its weight. There are lots of historical and cultural attractions here – far more than visitors expect from an island which is very small in the scheme of things. History buffs like exploring the Jersey War Tunnels and getting a sense of what life was like here during German occupation in WWII, Jersey Zoo (established by Gerald Durrell) has amazing animals from all corners of the Earth and the Channel Islands Liquor Co. distillery is definitely worth a visit for a tasting tour. Year-round attractions include Ska and Mod nights with DJ Ray Steel at Jersey Ska Club, the Barclay’s Jersey Boat Shoe, Jersey International Motoring Festival Good Vibrations Surf Festival and Wonky Weekend Festival. Meanwhile, family activities include cheering on Jersey Bulls FC, dressing up as sailors on Discovery Day and becoming a wildlife warrior and taking part in wildlife explorer trails. Foodies love this island too – the Famous Five Dinner is a highlight in the culinary calendar and the BOX-E Jazz Brunch is also popular.

Compare parking at Jersey Airport
There are two public car parks at Jersey Airport and prices are reasonable, so you won’t have any trouble finding a space that suits. And it’s all part of the satisfying experience you’ll get at an airport which has been satisfying customers since it opened way back in 1937.
At that time, the site covered 97 acres and had four grass runways and a multi-purpose four-storey terminal building that contained the control and radio rooms as well as spaces for the general public. An influx of holidaymakers from the rest of the UK was almost immediate and Jersey has never looked back since.
In the latest recorded year, 697,000 passengers arrived in Jersey via air and numbers are gradually increasing post-pandemic. A recent monthly figure of 73,000 passengers, for instance, dwarfed the total of just 9000 in late 2019 at the peak of the crisis.
What kind of parking is there at Jersey Airport?
There are lots of different types of parking at JER and the official parking provision is very good. The process is smooth, and you can conveniently pay when you exit using your phone or a contactless bank or credit card. Long and Short Stay car parks both have disabled parking spaces (charged at regular rates) and there’s an overstay carpark available whenever necessary.
Short Stay
Located right in front of the JER Arrivals Terminal, the Short Stay car park charges by 30 minute increments.
Long Stay
You can park in the Long Stay car park completely free of charge for up to half an hour – after which you’re charged by the hour. It’s located across from the Departures Terminal and if you need a disabled bay and want to take your Blue Badge with you, it’s possible to get a temporary disabled parking permit from the Customers Relations desk.
Premium Parking
There are a select number of premium parking spaces at Jersey Airport in a lot just outside Arrivals. You reach Premium Parking via the Short Stay car park, and you can park there as long as you like. Spaces in Premium are regular sized, but the areas between each space are large, making it much easier to enter/exit your vehicle and handle luggage.
Overflow car park
When Long Stay is full, the overflow car park clicks into gear. The parking here is hourly, but everyone gets half an hour gratis.
Drop-off zone
You’ll find a drop off zone right in front of Departures. You can’t park here but you can drop off travelling passengers while you stay with your vehicle.
Motorbike and bicycle parking
There’s free (uncovered) parking for motorbikes at JER. You’ll find it at the north side of the hire car slip road. And there are also free (uncovered) parking areas for bicycles. One is in the staff car park on the road to Departures, the other is in the main car park, behind Alares House.
Getting to Jersey Airport
Jersey Airport is around 15 minutes from St Helier via Victoria Avenue/A2.
If you need to use SatNav to reach JER, the address is: Jersey Airport, St Peter, Jersey JE1 1BY.
Facilities at Jersey Airport
You’ll find all the main facilities at Jersey Airport that you’re used to at larger airports. For starters, there are complimentary luggage trolleys available all through the airport (although they can’t be taken through the main security search) and there are two ATM machines, through the central security area, at WH Smith.
If you’d like a calm space for some pre-flight meditation, there’s a small chapel in the airside departures lounge and there’s a charging zone where you can ensure all of your electronic devices are at full power before boarding your flight. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout JER, medial first aiders are on hand and the British Airways Executive Lounge next to Gate 2 is very comfortable and cosy.
One thing you don’t want to be at the airport is hungry. So luckily, it’s easy to grab a bite to eat. Café Ube serves salads, sandwiches, snacks, soups, and tasty pasta bakes. And in terms of drinks, you can enjoy soft drinks, spirits, cocktails, wine and beer at The Bar from 11am (please don’t drink them all at once though).
There’s also a small but quality selection of shops at JER. At the Jersey Zoo store, you can buy animal-themed soft toys and clothing, as well as adoption packs for various animals. All of the proceeds go to the work of the zoo. Meanwhile Maison de Jersey specializes in local fare so if you want to treat yourself to local delicacies, fill your basket. And there’s nothing like having a little more time to pore over your favourite magazines and books while you’re on holiday – treat yourself to a few top titles and some sweets and soft drinks too. World Duty Free is also worth checking out too – you’ll find great savings on top-class perfumes, cosmetics, spirits and more.
The JER Customer Relations Team is based in the Departures terminal near the check-in area and there’s a free money exchange service whereby you can change Jersey notes to English (up to the value of £50 per family/group).
Customer Relations provides a Post Office service and it’s available every day from 6am-7pm. Please be aware that you can only use Jersey stamps to post from here – UK stamps aren’t recognized. In terms of accessibility, all catering, shopping and toilets are located on the ground floor, while the first floor viewing lounge can be accessed from the elevators. You can borrow a manual wheelchair if necessary and induction loops for the hard of hearing are located in the TV lounge of the airside Departures lounge, as well as the passenger assistance area.
A handy access guide and app for JER is available from the official website and there’s also an app – download both before you visit.
