Located in the MacDonnell Region in the south of Australia’s Northern Territory, Yulara is a small town with a resident population of just over 1000. However, since it’s just 18km from Uluru (Ayers Rock) and 55km from Kata Tjuta (Mount Olga and its surrounding domes), this unassuming settlement is a magnet for tourists from across Australia and the rest of the world. Also known as Ayers Rock Resort, you’ll fine a full range of amenities here, including hotels, hostels, cafes, restaurants and (naturally) guides tours to the aforementioned top attractions. This is the heartland of the Anangu indigenous people and the ideal base to learn more about the profound riches of Aboriginal culture.

Hiring a car to get around Yulara is one of the best ways to see Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and it’s simple with Enjoy Travel. For example, hiring a car like a rugged Mitsubishi Outlander costs just A$135.63 at Ayer’s Rock Airport if you book ahead of time, while a nine-seater Kia Carnival costs A$213.73 a day. Whether you want to scoot around town or head into the outback to see the amazing natural attractions in this unique part of Aus, hire a car in Yulara from Enjoytravel.com and unlock endless adventure!

The new town of Yulara was proclaimed by the Governor General in 1976 as the official centre for tourism to Uluru and Kata Tjuta, after years of unmonitored tourist development near the base of Uluru and other sacred sites in the area was causing damage. The site became fully operational in 1984, complete with new accommodation, a shopping centre and staff residences. It’s now owned and operated by the Indigenous Land Corporation.
