Guide to Yulara

The new town of Yulara was proclaimed by the Governor General in 1976 as the official centre for tourism to Uluru and Kata Tjuta, after years of unmonitored tourist development near the base of Uluru and other sacred sites in the area was causing damage. The site became fully operational in 1984, complete with new accommodation, a shopping centre and staff residences. It’s now owned and operated by the Indigenous Land Corporation.
